As part of the pain survey,
we ask you to draw your pain areas on a diagram with the
front and back of a human body figure.
Using simple drawing tools,
you will indicate one or more body areas where you have
chronic pain and mark the spot inside each area where the
pain is worst.
Your drawing is sent to the
TMT server computer, where we perform powerful computer
analysis of the drawing images. We hope that these analyses
will help in the diagnosis and treatment of the causes of
chronic pain in people like you.
In a different TMT clinical
study, pain specialists (physicians who specialize in the
treatment of pain) will ask their patients to make a pain
drawing, and will tell us what, in their expert opinion, is
the likely cause of the chronic pain in each patient. If we
find that the pain drawing helps to identify the likely
cause in a patient with chronic pain, we will be able to use
these results in other settings.
